How I have neglected you in the passing days! I am truly sorry, but things have gotten fairly busy with school. The good news is that this week is very empty, so there will be a great deal more content on this Olde Blogge. I have kept fairly busy this weekend with a trip yesterday to the Capitoline Museum next to the Forum. There was tons of sculpture and the remains of several Colossus, as well as a myriad of other interesting artifacts and arts. (A large section of Guido Reni, a contemporary of Caravaggio, some Greek pottery, some Egyptian sculpture plundered from Egypt, and an amazing view into the Forum itself.) The weather has turned from beautiful to rather muggy the last few days here in Rome. The heat of summer is really wonderful, so we have kept our windows open all day and only shut them at night just before we go to bed. We have a seminar with Italian students of Roma Tre Architecture school this weekend, which is looking to be a very interesting experience. I am also planning on going to the Villa Borghese with some of the roommates on Saturday. Unfortunately we have to battle the tourist hordes that have invaded Rome in the last couple of days. There is truly an astounding amount of people here in this city. I have seen restaurants that are generally empty packed full with not a single seat open, and some restaurants have finally set up seats outside of their establishments to accommodate the hordes of short and T-shirt clad masses from America, Britain, Germany, Spain and Russia.
Back to work for me, I am currently in studio working on drawings for Monday afternoon...
Enjoy your weeks! I am enjoying myself immensely with all of this beautiful weather we are having!
My class in front of the Villa Barbara outside of Vicenza in North Italy.
A (somewhat successful) photostitch of the Trevi fountain on a weekday. You can't walk around it on the weekends due to the massive crowds of tourists that go see this oh so vaunted romantic site in Rome.
