Ostia Antica; Almost the Sea Pt.2

More great pictures of Ostia Antica!

Ruins of more housing

The theatre again, from the pediment of the remains of a temple to Athena

The forum of the town from the pediment of Athena's Temple

Sarah pretending to be a statue near Athena's Temple

Back to the road and more ruins of shops and houses

An overgrown alleyway

The forum and the capital of Ostica

A view of the forum from the capital

Frescos aged 1400 years or so... Still older than the US as a country.

Imagine a city covered in this and what you get is exactly what Osctica used to look like

Remains of a storage warehouse complete with containers. They were found partially buried, using the earth as a natural refridgeration device. These things are huge! Well over the size of a 55 gallon drum.

The floor in the temple of Diana. I got to step on it to take the next picture... WOOT!

The interior of the temple of Diana (Probably minus a bunch of gold and mosiacs, the statues are in the museums.)

Inside the Baths at Ostica

The baths again...

Old walls of the fort the city was built around.

More ruins...

A rebuilt section of the facade of the theatre

Massive! This place was giant!

Ruined temple to another Roman god, I believe this one was their trade god because it sat prominently on the road right inside of the city.
